4. Conclusion
People operating the Aleph hadron calorimeter, were able to use a new
visualization tool enabling them to have in a single screen the situation
of the around 250 000 channels in real time. This single screen replaces
many histograms by representing the information directly on a kind of
map of the apparatus. Considering that Aleph will be running for many years,
the simplification in the monitoring process introduced by this tool has
proven to be essential for the successful operation of the apparatus.
